The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (CTDOT), is now accepting applications for a Real Estate Appraiser (Property Agent 2) position within the Appraisals Section of the Division of Rights of Way, in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, at our Headquarters in Newington, CT.
This position requires a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license. In addition to a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license, we seek candidates with a strong work ethic and interest to work in the transportation field.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
First Shift
Full Time, 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday
Location: Newington, CT
Hybrid (in-office/telework) and alternate work schedules may be available
P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit
THE ROLE
The Division of Rights of Way, Appraisals Section, is responsible for acquiring property through eminent domain for the Department's Capital Program. The Appraisal Section ensures property rights are valued in accordance with State and federal law. Appraisers in the Appraisal Section are required to hold an appraiser license to perform their duties. Appraisers ensure that property acquisitions are completed in accordance with State and Federal law while accommodating the schedule as provided in the Department's Capital Program.
This position requires the ability to perform field work and meet with property owners and other stakeholders, in a variety of environments. Applicants must be able to walk over undeveloped, rough and uneven terrain, included wooded areas, fields, or areas with brush and vegetation, in construction zones, and near traffic, during varying weather conditions. Applicants must be able to walk extended distances outdoors, navigate natural ground conditions, climb stairs or similar structures, and stand for prolonged periods while performing duties.

Applicants must be available to travel for training, conferences, meetings, field reviews, etc. both within and outside of normal working hours, when necessary, and must possess and retain a valid driver’s license.

Requirements
Seven (7) years of technical experience in rights of way, real estate appraisal, land acquisition, sale of real property, commercial leasing or property management.
